Part Two

Modules Analysis

Back to Main Index

For this part I have written about a significant person,
event or technology from each of the modules.

Module Two Analysis: Apple Macintosh and the GUI.

I have chosen the release of the Apple Macintosh (or the 'Mac') computer for this section because it had a great impact on the history of computing. It's GUI (Graphical User Interface) made the desktop computer easy to use. The Mac is the most popular computer used in the design industry for it's graphical capabilities. This section gives a brief outline of the development of the Macintosh and it's makers. Any similarities or differences it has with the story of Tim Berners-Lee are highlighted.

Module Three Analysis: Tim Berners-Lee and the World Wide Web.

Tim Berners-Lee was a significant person because of his invention - the World Wide Web. The WWW made the Internet's use not only to connect to other computers around the world but to access vast amounts of information. In this section I describe who Tim Berners-Lee is and also the significance of his invention, the impact it had on the Internet industry and also any similarities it had with the story of the Apple Macintosh.

Future Significant issues - Automated Houses.

As technology advances, so will our everyday lives. Anything that makes life easier and saves time is popular. The Internet has made a great impact on our work, social life and enjoyment. Now we hear that our homes will be made to think for themselves and do tasks at our command. This section is about automated houses or 'Smart Houses'. The page also has links to some information on this new and yet to be popularised technology.
