the number of pages required, whether a merchant account or an
online payment gateway is required etc.

This is a software company site that we designed with an
online catalogue and secure shopping cart sytem.
The usual procedure is for us
to put your catalogue or selected product(s) on your website
with a description, price and thumbnail photo of each. An
"Add To Basket" or "Add to Cart" button is
placed beside each item. The visitor can add items to their
virtual "shopping cart" as they peruse your
merchandise.
Once they're finished shopping,
they proceed to the "check-out". At this point, the
visitor is transferred to a secure server where they fill out
all the details such as name, address, credit card number etc.
Once this is done they submit the order. In seconds, you
receive an email informing you of the purchase and the
purchaser's details. Then you just ship the orders! If you don't have a merchant
account with your bank (which accepts credit/debit cards
processed online), we can set you up with an account with
WorldPay, an online transaction gateway. They require a
one-off set up charge and then 4% of every transaction made on
your site. This can work out cheaper than owning a merchant
account for smaller businesses.
